Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of mechanical disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors focus on the relationship between joints, muscles and the nervous system (neuromusculoskeletal disorders), and recognise that structural problems can effect the function of the body and health in general. Although spinal conditions are of central importance, chiropractors are also highly qualified in the treatment of pain in the joints of the arms and legs.

Spinal joints that become jammed, locked-up, or lose their normal motion, termed spinal joint dysfunction or vertebral subluxation, can effect the function of the spine and nervous system. Spinal joint dysfunction results in symptoms such as pain, muscle spasm, weakness, numbness, tingling and reduced body function.
